Should PrEP Be Encouraged More For Straight Women?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

I’m noticing so many young women joining us here from around the world. While I welcome them, I’m sad that their infection wasn’t avoided. I see advertisements constantly encouraging HIV negative gay men to go on PrEP. I know gay men whose doctors encouraged PrEP. Perhaps I’m just missing it, but I don’t see the same push for sexually active women.

I Have Had HIV For Almost 20 Years. I Have Slowly Gained Weight Through The Years But I Am Hardly Every Hungry. Any Else Like This?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Year 2 of my meds my doc already started seeing signs of weight gain. I am never really hungry but I slowly keep putting on the pounds. The past 2 years I have been going to the gym and I can feel the muscle growth under all the fat. I eat high protein low carb but no real change. It's rare that I drink soda or alcohol. It's frustrating.

Time To Refresh
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Do you think it’s time for the CDC and The national institute of health to refresh there terminology on HIV. It’s 2024 not 1983 and major advances have been made. My opinion on the matter is as followed: first retire the word AIDS it is a dirty word and causes stigma. From now on advanced HIV should be used. Next undectable is everyone under 200 regardless of what lab you use. There is no evidence that I can find that says your healthier below 20 viral load then at 199.so we need to stop… read more

How Do You Guys Know When It's Time To Be Quiet?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

At the job I got transferred to a shift that I didn't want. And in my mind I blame; the lead, the district manager, and everyone (in my head lol). One day one I knew I overlooked the signs that were obvious. But today a voice hit me when I had processed the situations over and over again. I was talking too much! And by talking to much I mean finding anything to say, ask this, analyze that, and say what's exactly on my mind if I felt the need to know. I did it again and that voice said BE QUIET… read more

Bimonthly Injection
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Ive said before many times, the United States is far behind in HIV care
While the United States has just approved a monthly injection, I have noted Europe was doing a bimonhly study
The United Kindom (in Europe) has approved the first bimonhly injection.
The United States was behind the ball with U=U for 3 years.
The United States was behind in studying a monthly injection.
The United States is now behind in a bimonthly injection.
Sounds like the United States just doesn't care about HIV… read more
