Is it possible if your on arvs and undetectable to get another hiv infection from another person . From what I’m understanding is that reinfection is rare. And usually only becomes a problem if you contract a different strain that is resistant to the arvs your taking. But my understanding is the resistance new virus would have to be resistant to all the ingredients of your arv to cause issues. Anyone have thoughts on this

In aug I had got sick with a uti and it was pretty bad because I didn’t know I had it. With me fighting that there was maybe two time within that week I missed my meds. In September I think I had missed as well but I also been up and down with takin them at the same time everyday but I am takin them and that’s only due to work and sleep. I'm newly diagnosed. Started biktarvi a little over 3wks ago. My first blood test results said my viral load was 5800 & CD4 was 1200 something. I'm just worried & wondered how common it was for someone to pass a drug resistant strain of HIV-1 to another person.
As long as you're undetectable you can't transmit. I'd wait till that viral load goes down to undetectable before having unprotected sex.🙂
Now that the pharmaceutical companies have found a way to keep us alive for 30+ years with a one a day pill,what’s the incentive for them to come up with another pill. Wouldn’t it makes sense for all scientists,pharmaceutical companies etc to now spend all their effort to find a cure.
