Members shared heartfelt and honest reflections on how they are getting into the holiday spirit this year, with many describing a mix of grief, resilience, and quiet joy. A recurring theme was loss and life transitions, including family members passing, leaving difficult relationships, and children growing up, leading many to scale back traditions to just a string of lights or a bare tree. Several members found comfort in small meaningful gestures, like wrapping gifts with care, working to bring cheer to others, or simply choosing happiness after years of sadness.

I'm 71 now with no partner or kids around it's just not the same. I am working at the hospital as a chaplain so I'm trying to bring as much joy and cheer around as is applicable. Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Chaplain David

I used to go all out, or as much as I could. Didn’t decorate the outside.
But I sure did have a beautiful Christmas tree, mantel the whole first floor was beautiful.

I had started collecting Nutcrackers, started my own little village.

Left my ex and left it all behind.
I’d like to start it over again one day.

This year was seriously tough. I barely put up a tree.
