My question is, does anyone have any advice for lowering it naturally. I'm vegan I don't eat any dairy, eggs, meat, cheese etc. So I don't need to worry about cutting those things out of my diet I just need to try to find way lower it without meds. I really definitely do not want to be put on a Statin.

Members responded to someone seeking natural ways to lower cholesterol to 80 from 94 while living with HIV, with many emphasizing that HIV itself often raises cholesterol levels and that statins may eventually become necessary as a preventative measure for heart health. Several members shared their own experiences with statins like Rosuvastatin and Lipitor, noting minimal side effects and successful cholesterol reduction, while others suggested dietary tweaks, regular exercise, and eliminating sweets and processed foods. A recurring theme was the tension between wanting to avoid medication and recognizing that long-term HIV, inflammation, and age may require pharmaceutical intervention to protect cardiovascular health.

Is that your overall cholestorol figure Julie? The danger level in the UK is 5.0 Above that figure, Statins are needed to prevent Heart Disease.. Last month I went to 5.3 Overall. I recently started to take a side effect free stain at bedtime called Rosuvastatin.

Unfortunately Julie HIV will undoubtedly increase your cholesterol levels so at one point you will have to be on a statin.

Unfortunately HIV causes cholesterol increases. I am very strict on my diet but last year I was put on a statin to avoid any cardiovascular disease. It is quite difficult to lower it on your own. You should seriously consider a statin. They don't affect me at all and my cholesterol is back down.

It could be your medication or just a natural situation for you. Just keep doing your routine. Also there are medications that could help your situation. Good luck and take care.
