I’ve been positive for 3 years seems like yesterday. However I’m at the point where I’m stable. Viral load suppressed cd 4 counts over 600. My doctor spends 2 minutes with me every three months I feel I don’t need a blood test every three months. And pay a $40 copay. Do you agree I should ask if I can see him twice a year instead or best to keep it as is?

Members offered thoughtful perspectives on how often to see a doctor when HIV is stable, with many agreeing that twice a year is a reasonable goal worth discussing with your care team. Several members shared that they successfully moved to visits every six months once their viral load was suppressed and CD4 counts were strong, though some noted that other health factors like kidney function, cholesterol, and hormone levels can influence how often monitoring is needed. A recurring theme was that open communication with your doctor is key, and there is no harm in asking for fewer visits, especially when your numbers have been consistently good.

Actually I wouldn't complain only because if you are sexually active there's nothing wrong with getting a daily nip and Tuck once in awhile if you know what I mean. Other than that if you have free healthcare why not use it not abuse it just use it. A word from the wise.

You should always raise the question. He won't know 4 times is too much for you unless you tell him. I go in for a tune up twice a year. It's their idea. But it's peace of mind for me. I'm forgetful. So want to know if I caused a problem early. Plus, I finally left the Core center here in Chicago and started going to a private doctor. So I wanna get to know her before I start adjusting appointments.

I would say this, and I mean this in the nicest way, if one sluts around often, stay with the quarterly check ups. You will find issues sooner rather than later. If you have infrequent sexual encounters, I'd go for the twice a year.
I see this question every once in a while, and that's my opinion, if you hook up often, get checked often.

That's why I decided to do a " meet and greet " appointment with the new proposed id pcp because I want to know how he interacts with old farts like myself who have been around the block more than once to know what checkup entails ....

Well if he does not meet the standards of my retired id pcp well I will stick with
