Look up an infectious disease doctor. Word of mouth about local doctors is the best. I'm in the same boat. My close friend(who just started working in healthcare and thinks he knows everything) is encouraging me find a new doctor and I don't know where to start.
@A myHIVteam Member when I first applied I had a 14 cd4, wasting syndrome and an inflamed liver. I still didn't get it. To their defense I didn't know how HIV was impacting me. I just knew I had it. They told me that although I had a severe case. They expect me to make a full recovery.
Long time ago your t cells have to be under 200 and have 2 infections like shingles or mouth sores.
I'm on disability but it's because I had brain.surgey but if you have something wrong with ya like breathing issues or something like that you can I would look in to in it I know people who's got s.s.i. because they were hiv positive but they have to be at a certain level of the stage of having itbut I would check on that
@A myHIVteam Member They do. I've just been going to the same dr since I've been diagnosed. My employment isn't always consistent so I've always kept my care in places Medicaid and Cook county care will pay for incase I loose my job. Fast forward 9 years. I'm ready to work on some of these neuropathy issues and cognitive issues or figure out how to get on ssi. I'm at a funny place in my life. I need to change careers because every couple years I always find myself laid off. But I'm starting to doubt my ability to learn a new job. When I can barely remember what happened yesterday.
