Hi. Has Anyone Switched From Atripla To Genvoya?

Question

I've been on Atripla 11 yrs with good success & little side effects, but concerned it may be hard on my bones, teeth and kidneys. Heard and read that Genvoya may be a better alternative and not as harsh on my body (especially as I get older . . . 61 now) Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has made that switch and what your experience has been like.

I was using Atripla for a while but it had an effect on my kidneys so the doctor switched me to Complera and finally to Odefsey. Each of them pretty mild effects for me but the doctor was playing it as safe as possible with my kidney function.

I first started with Atripla. It used to get stuck in my throat and taste horrible. Then complera. And now Odefsey because a doctor I had said it is better for my kidneys.

i was on trisifir and viramune for a long time, allof my teeth started chipping or falling out but ive bin on Odefsey for about two years and havent had any problems with the Odefsey

Hi Jack, I was on Atripla also and my physician was concerned about the effects on my kidney. At the time, he suggested I participate in a clinical trial which I was a participant for two years. The new drug, finally approved, turned out to be Genvoya which is my current medication of choice. During the clinical trials, I was carefully tracked for kidney function and bone density scans were done every four to six months. The result, in my case was a decreased risk on my kidneys and also on my bones. I have been on Genvoya now since the clinical trial began in 2014 and both my physician and I are pleased with the results.
