Having To Change Doctor
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

I live in seattle now and mid 2017 I began seeing a new ID specialist who had great reputation and was very current in what new developments are happening. About a month ago, i was blind sided by an email from his office manager informing me (and i checked to verify) that his license to practice had been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation by the state medical quality assuarance board - basically he's benched until forever. How do you find a new doctor when you are in a new city… read more

It might be time to be id pcp shopping to find yourself a Dr you can talk to who listens .
When the clinic I was getting my aids care at was absorbed into the research college ( University of Alabama ( Birmingham ( UAB ) knowing my id pcp might not be taking her patients with her I went dr shopping at nearby hospitals in an attempt to find a doctor qualified in the field of id .

Before I even had an interview set up with any Dr I got the news that my id pcp was keeping me as one of 10 patients that she was allowed to bring with her .

Needless to say I was overjoyed about such good news

I have now had her as my id pcp over 20 years and believe you me there's nothing between us that gets past the other :) .
I mean if I ask for something specific she makes me justify my request .
Now in the other hand if she wants me to switch or try something new she suggests it and gives me time to do my own research then we mutually decide if it is actually beneficial to my condition or not .

Are there HIV/AIDS resources available in your area? These facilities are usually a good resource for reputable HIV/AIDS practitioners. Good luck with your search.
