anal warts ***COULD*** lead to anal cancer. Talk to your HIV doctor about the warts, and they will get you scheduled with a doctor who will remove them. Depending how bad they are, they can freeze… read more

Hiv And Hepatitis C

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
New Brunswick, NJ

The person who infected me was a drug user also. So far it’s been 7 months since diagnosis I have hiv but so far I’ve been hep c negative. My doctor said 6 months after possible infection if I test negative for hep c I’m in the clear anyone concur with that. Also I heard hep c and hiv don’t play well together but I heard hep c can be cured?

A myHIVteam Member

Did you ask your Doctor to do a Hep C viral load test Brad ? You then dont have to wait 6 months to see if you have contracted it or not.

Now that the pharmaceutical companies have found a way to keep us alive for 30+ years with a one a day pill, what’s the incentive for them to come up with another pill. HIV vaccine won't help us even if it becomes available. Vaccines prevent symptoms. We already have symptoms. You can't prevent something you already have.

Monkeypox

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Edmore, MI

Has anyone asked their doctor about monkeypox yet?
I just sent an email to my doctor to see if there was any kind of vaccine for it. From what I have read so far, it does not look like there is, but the smallpox vaccine is 80% effective against it. 80% is better than 0%.
Would you get a monkeypox or smallpox vaccine to try and prevent monkeypox?

Postpone Lab Work?🧐

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
New Brunswick, NJ

On Friday I got some weird rash that itches like hell. It’s on my torso not big but pink and raised. This morning another little rash showed up next to my nipple again small but itchy. Last time I got a bad rash I started biktarvy. He gave me a steroid cream and it went away in 2 weeks. I decided to use the steroid cream on this rash. Question is my 6 month blood work is in 2 weeks. Should I postpone since I’m afraid that the steroid cream and the rash might affect my true viral load cd 4 count… read more

I don’t think a topical steroid will affect you viral load numbers. I never postpone my labwork
