I’ve been positive for 3 years seems like yesterday. However I’m at the point where I’m stable. Viral load suppressed cd 4 counts over 600. My doctor spends 2 minutes with me every three months I feel I don’t need a blood test every three months. And pay a $40 copay. Do you agree I should ask if I can see him twice a year instead or best to keep it as is?

Members shared their personal experiences on how often to see a doctor when stable, with most agreeing that twice a year is a reasonable ask for someone with suppressed viral load and strong CD4 counts. Several members noted that while visit frequency can decrease, regular lab work is still important to monitor kidneys, liver, cholesterol, and to catch any early signs of medication changes. A recurring theme was that open communication with your doctor is key, and there is no harm in asking to reduce visits, since your doctor cannot adjust the schedule without knowing how you feel.

Actually I wouldn't complain only because if you are sexually active there's nothing wrong with getting a daily nip and Tuck once in awhile if you know what I mean. Other than that if you have free healthcare why not use it not abuse it just use it. A word from the wise.

I would say this, and I mean this in the nicest way, if one sluts around often, stay with the quarterly check ups. You will find issues sooner rather than later. If you have infrequent sexual encounters, I'd go for the twice a year.
I see this question every once in a while, and that's my opinion, if you hook up often, get checked often.

You should always raise the question. He won't know 4 times is too much for you unless you tell him. I go in for a tune up twice a year. It's their idea. But it's peace of mind for me. I'm forgetful. So want to know if I caused a problem early. Plus, I finally left the Core center here in Chicago and started going to a private doctor. So I wanna get to know her before I start adjusting appointments.

Your apts should have moved to quarterly or annually by now, especially if your numbers are that good. Even ask the front desk staff when you call in if a 6/mo option is available.
That's one reason I don't want injectables, I love my ID office staff, I used to work there but don't want to waste my PTO or co-payment money that often.
