So ive noticed that since being diagnosed (1.5yrs ago) and being on the meds, ive increased in weight, more so in the chest and stomach area. I do drink 3-4 cans a soda daily. It definitely can be either one or both. There area few known meds that can develop belly fat.
I developed my dad bod in my 40s.
most HIV medications, (no matter what brand name), MOST people, NOT ALL people, have a side effect of weight gain taking the HIV medications. If you were happy with your body before the meds, you'll just need to work out more often to keep up with the medications.
Welcome to the forties. It's the meds some. But don't forget we loose a little testosterone as we age. It's the whole thing.
You're welcome I don't understand why providers don't vocalize these things. We saw a pattern in our clinic and still had providers who fat shamed my peers and I had to go talk to these Drs and some crying patients they left behind.
I'm glad I learned such things to help others advocate for themselves when clearly most of our medical providers are NOT.
Thank you so much for the feedback. I will def discuss options at next visit. Thank you!!
