Members in the thread shared personal experiences and tips for managing high cholesterol, especially in the context of HIV medication, with several noting that certain ART regimens can raise cholesterol levels and suggesting members ask their doctors about switching to alternatives. A recurring theme was the value of trying different statin medications, with one member sharing a dramatic drop in cholesterol from 210 to 60 in just three months after finally agreeing to try a statin their doctor recommended. Several members also suggested looking into diet changes, staying physically active, and researching how current medications may be contributing to the problem.

I learned that shrimp can give you high cholesterol and also learned that some HIV medication cause high cholesterol and we need to ask our doctors if the HIV medication we take causes high cholesterol and can we be placed on another ART regimen that will do the same as the current medication we’re taking without the high cholesterol levels.

Do some digging and see if it's a result of your medication. They don't have HIV survivors on GLP1's and statins for nothing.
