The Power of Whey Protein
If you have a choice, look for shakes that use Whey Protein (or consider adding a whey powder to your diet).
Glutathione Boost: Long-term HIV infection is often associated with low levels of glutathione, the body’s "master antioxidant." Whey protein is rich in cysteine, an amino acid your liver needs to produce glutathione.
CD4 Evidence: Some clinical trials have shown that patients taking whey protein supplements saw a significant increase in CD4 counts compared to those taking standard carbohydrate-based supplements. It helps reduce "oxidative stress," which can otherwise kill off CD4 cells prematurely.
I find them extremely hard to drink as I don't like the taste of them. Most of them make me nauseous. It's frustrating because I have to put some weight on.
