I do sometimes feel alone like only other HIV people or even people with Cancer would understand. I think I feel alone when I want to share my status and then think of their negative reactions and then I don't. I feel like I have to lie to take off work for treatment.

Hi there, good evening yes I'm very lonely I two wasn't the type to settle down I was young and stupid , I was just living my early life when I was in my 20's I was the type I would go to bars I was the type I would stay to my myself I've also been that way since I was in high school I really didn't fit in with the crowd.... I wasn't the type to go look for friends I had a handful of friends b nobody I could talk too about being gay... it just wasn't the thing to do back then ...I know I wasn't normal... But anyway ever since I was told I had HIV back in 2001 I really didn't know what too think 🤔 but I was gonna die soon ... I am undetectable right away because they caught it just in time.... I'm 55yr old I haven't had a partner since then I figured I'd die alone I'm hoping one day ... But problem not I feel you on the lonely mess I ll keep you in my prayers good night

I suspect that there are A LOT of lonely people here (as is seemingly the case everywhere).

You're definitely not alone in feeling lonely. Many myHIVteam members share similar feelings, especially when others don't understand their experiences. Living with HIV can affect both physical and emotional well-being, making these feelings completely normal. Here are some ways to help combat loneliness:
• Connect with others who understand your journey
• Share your story and experiences
• Be gentle with yourself
• Remember you don't have to appear like you "have it all together"
• Surround yourself with people who make you feel valued and accepted

Remember, reaching out and sharing these feelings, just as you've done now, is a brave first step. Many members have found that opening up about their experiences helps them feel less isolated and more supported.

You're not alone, you're with yourself, and that has to be enough. You're also here, and that already helps you not to feel alone. I'm like that, but now I have a partner. She, like me, has HIV. We just try to help each other. She was just as alone as I was.
