Can Someone Explain To Me How It Works The HIV Treatment Through Medicare Insurance? I’m New Resident In The USA … Thank You!

I don’t know what’s the best way to handle my Medicare treatment related to my HIV. I have a Medical Insurance and I went to visit the first doctor that the insurance recommended to me. But each month I have to pay $80 for 1 month of retrovirals and pay too for the visit to the Doctor … I’m not sure is this the right way to do it or if there a best option to handle it.

That sounds too much first of all where are you from? Second of all check with the Medicare offices in your area and see if there's an HIV agency. If there is get yourself a caseworker so that he or she can help you navigate through the system.

The case manager is great. What you may want to check if you regular Medicare or Medicare advantage. Each one has a different drug coverage. Your insurance has co-pays you have to pay. Next see if your state has an adapt program that will cover your co-pays through a set pharmacy. This can all be handled through your case manager. If you have a clinic there see if you can get help.

Adapt is a good reference. Each state has some version of adapt , I think.
