If you haven't quit yet do you plan to and how?
I quit December 31st 2020 bcyz I was supposed to hav Spinal Fusion Surgery that was botched the day it was to happen bcuz they failed to read blood work before my surgery n had thr surgery been dun I wudnt b here today bcuz my platelet levels wer so low I wudv bled out on the table. I vape now n smoke thc cartridges for pain, to b able to eat, and helps with anxiety and depression. I've been a Marijuana smoker since I was 11 and if I don't, I don't eat.
I plan to give up very soon, though I keep saying that. But my chest is far worse with the COPD and Covid isn’t fun at the moment with bruised rib muscles and chest. I will get some patches, possibly some lozenges, but don’t want to vape for fear of getting a different addiction.
Well done to all those who have mastered this, good on you.
I quit smoking Sept 4th, 2021, and the way I did it was by switching to vaping. I had tried everything over the years -- patches, gum, lozenges, etc -- but I always returned to smoking again. An acquaintance told me he quit by vaping, and gradually reducing the nicotine content in the juice. I started vaping at 12 mg of nicotine and am now down to 3 mg. Next, 0 mg and I hope to quit vaping by my birthday in June 2023. I felt SO much better the very next day after quitting smoking. I don't advocate vaping indefinitely, but I am an advocate for using it as a tool toward quitting smoking/weaning oneself off of nicotine.
@A myHIVteam Member I’ve given up, like you, many times - for 3 years, a year, a few weeks - but I know I need to get rid of it once and for all. I will definitely bear in mind hire you managed it, my need for it is usually out of anxiety or boredom so I need to learn how to manage these. Thanks for your words of encouragement, I hope to succeed like you.
I quit cold turkey 3 years ago and had smoked for about 35 years and no problem
