Antiretrovirals

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Edinburg, TX

I started treatment about a year ago and started taking Isentress and descovy. I read that people take descovy as Prep. Do I need to be taking both medications? I have noticed that my numbers have gone out of whack with these medications. I exercise regularly and eat healthy.

If your talking about cholesterol numbers. Yeah. That happened to me. I've had to totally change my diet to manage it.

I take the same regimen. Yes you need both meds to fight the virus.

Talk to your doctor about this, they are schooled and trained to guide you correctly. Everyone has different results even if taking the same meds.
Because our condition with HIV is manageable, you need to make some changes to your diet as mentioned by @A myHIVteam Member
Eating healthy and exercising does not matter based on each persons reaction to any medication. Seek doctors advice.

Yes. That’s what I was talking about. Yeah I’m pretty healthy otherwise. I just need to talk to the doctor to see what else I can do. Maybe try something else. Thank you.
