Coping With Depression/anxiety During This Pandemic While Having HIV:
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

I feel like I am reliving the beginning of the HIV epidemic back in the 80's. Lots of feelings from back then come to mind again. The lack of both the Reagan and Trump administration to ignore the science and growing numbers of cases and deaths, thus acting much too late. Tremendous fear of the unknown, and the feeling "am I going to get It"? All the loss of lives. And so much more. I feel numb. I think many of the long termers like me can relate especially to this. The good news, I… read more

Have You Lived With HIV For Half Of Your Life?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Asked this question about a year ago, wondered where we are at currently. I turned positive in 1987 and have had it for 33 years. I am 67. I wonder what my life would have turned out had I not contracted it. But I have learned to have to live with it. For me it has been a hard journey in many ways. Really tired of pills and going to the doctors and having procedures all the time. Then feeling fatigued so much. My docs say it is all about how long I have had the virus, how long I have… read more

Why Believe Dr. Anthony Fauci?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

As we are still alive because of Dr. Fauci with his incredible work with AIDS & HIV. Developing daily meds with the big Pharmaceuticals that have helped us stay alive taking a pill a day, (which is individual and different for each of us), I just want to give a shout out to thank him, and glad that he is on the "team" to figure it all out. A brilliant Doctor who's always ahead of the game.

So, my family - do you have confidence in Dr. Fauci or support our President with his philosophy that… read more

Are You Concerned About COVID-19?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

With unfamiliar viruses like COVID- 19 surfacing, are you concerned more today than yesterday, regarding your HIV infection and health? Have you changed or added any measures?

A myHIVteam Member

I am now more careful after contracting it last year 2020. I am not certain how I caught it but I must say that I followed all necessary measures to try and stay safe from it. I am very careful now.

Antiviral Causes Mutation In Covid Virus
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

This should come as no surprise to anyone with HIV. Covid-19 coronavirus is highly mutagenic (like HIV). The use of a single antiviral causes the Covid-19 virus to mutate towards resistance.

After Vaccination Is Completed, Will You Continue With The CDC Recommended Protocols To Remain Safe?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

After you are fully vaccinated will you still continue with wearing a mask, social distance, and avoiding large crowds?
It appears the majority of the team will get vaccinated and I wanted to find out what changes you will make after it's done.
Everyone will adapt to their own "new normal" when things begin to settle and get sorted out.

Once Created, Would You Ask Your Primary Care Physician To Give You The COVID-19 Vaccine Shot?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Although months away, would you isolate yourself again or get the vaccination? Does a treatment in the meantime , satisfy your concerns?

A myHIVteam Member

Wow, that's a lot. Government should help subsidize the fees.

Have You Been Tested For Covid-19?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Asked my HIV doc last week at appointment. I am a long termer 32 years, and 67 also have kidney issues amongst much more. He said unless I'm symptomatic or exposed not to worry. I told him I would like to know what my status is and he said if you insist, there are two free testing sites that test everyone out of the city limits. Question is, should those of us, as the vulnerable community, be tested anyway regardless of being symptomatic or have been exposed so we can adjust our lives… read more
