I have learned the difference between friends and those that use the word without honour.
Years ago, my best friend took 3 days off of work when my dog had to be euthanized. He stated a simple truth about him being there without compromise as only a brother would. For 11 of 15 years in Vancouver, he was loyal and trustworthy. His wife jokes about her need of a break and will gladly pack his overnight bag. He was supportive when I discussed the hidden virus commenting it was time to rewrite the bucket list.
The man I adore simply gave a hug and suggested I might need a calm port in the storms.
I volunteer with teen males between 17-20 in a Youth Residence. The issues they gave navigating life without a mentor is far more pertinent to the future than myself.
I learned we are all capable of offering a hand in friendship to those that need a hand or shoulder to lean on

Tomorrow is not a given! 1) hate is not a reason to not love one another. 2) if they can not change it, don't worry AND love them for ther differences!

With my partner he has worked hard and created significant wealth. He was raised to remain humble and share with those in need. The Sonny And Cher lyric ‘it’s what you are and not what you got resonates. I learned that truth, trust and respect can create the strongest bonds between people so you know there is that person to use a shoulder when you need to cry or scream.
