It’s Me Or ...
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

It is my impression or my stomach is not the same since I started the Meds? Sometimes I have stomachache, heartburn, sometimes a full sensation... I feel always is something... is it Normal? Should I worry or probably is something else ? I’m taking some natural supplements maybe is something in the Supplements right?

I’m with you John. Started having stomach issues around the same time I started my ARVs (21 years ago), always been an issue. Having investigations at the moment (awaiting sigmoidoscopy and MRI) and could possibly be Crohn’s disease, although I’m sure this can’t be linked to my meds. Who knows?

I wouldn’t worry @A myHIVteam Member, but definitely mention it to your doctor.

I started out with HIV related Colon Cancer , ad have had digestive distress ever since . I have noticed that when I take a break for a few days , it's not as bad.

From what I understand a large amount of the virus replicates and resides in the gut. I've always had problems with the digestive tract and it's gotten considerably worse since I developed the HIV infection.

I used to take truvada and tivicay but my PA changed to Biktarvy because of the convenience of having one pill. I been with Biktarvy for 5 months now, and the supplement that I’m taking is antioxidants and vitamin C.
