Today I may have been the recipient of a HIPAA violation... There was some break down in communication between the state and my employer concerning coverage for my insurance premiums. The check from the state got routed to one of the clinics my agency operates, not to HR. So my status was indirectly disclosed since I was listed as the "patient" on the check, and the name of the program funded by the state only supports people who are HIV positive. Has the accidental disclosure caused any problems or difficulties for you? If you have no damages as a result then you have no legal case. Just because someone has done you wrong doesn't mean that you are entitled to money. A civil case has 2 components, someone done me wrong and here is how that has injured me.

A lot of times you can consult with a lawyer for free for a half hour. Maybe you can start there and get advice from several of them.

No one that I've contacted has helped me. The lawyers who respond tell me they don't do this type of law, but most of them don't reply at all.

Just call different lawyers and see if they do 30 minute free consultations. They can tell you in that 30 minutes if you do or not have a case.
