Many feel the major culprits for Lipoatrophy, or loss of fullness in face. limbs, and rear, were the drugs AZT and Zerit. More are prone to Lipodystrophy, or visceral fat accumulation in your belly making it look bigger or fat accumulation in fat in upper back, who took Crixivan early on. As a long termer having had HIV 32 years I was on all three for quite a long time back in the 90's when med choices were few. And have both Lipoatrophy and Lipodystrophy in some shape or form. Wonder if… read more
Can you explain what both things are you're talking about?? I'm sorry for being ignorant, but i haven't heard those terms
Caregiving is very much underappreciated. It could be a daunting task depending on each individual situation.
How do you feel taking care of another person or if you are the person being taken care of, how does that make you feel?
Never been good at being a patient. I try. I like to do for others though . I can do my part but I'm no nurse. I think nurses are the best.
AVN caused me to get two hip replacements. Is that from Norvir or Crixavan usage?
It did for me. Two hip replacements. I took both and Truvada. Now on Bicarvy. (spelling?)
Am new here..I take it 3tablets morning 3evening..its kind of too much.I hate it. Ask them about Genvoa, it's one pill once a day.
I brought this up awhile ago, but just read an article in POZ or a journal that men with viceral fat have are 12% more likely have shorter lifespans than those that don't. Problem is, it is very hard to get rid of and get your BMI back to normal. Crunches don't do anything really. I have heard mainly exercise and special diet are the best. A friend said their are protocals for this either through medication, injections, or a procedure. Always wore a 30 to 31 waist up to age 55 and then… read more

Hey I'm doing some checking around. Has anyone had any gall bladder issues since being diagnosed. I've seen some research that points to advanced HIV and gall bladder issues, but I was wondering if anyone else had those issues.
Not my gall bladder but i had a blockage in my kidneys and I have no lining in my small intestine
I have Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease. It came to light in 2008 when I had a battle with kidney stones and had surgery. Right now I'm stable with the meds and diet, but get very anxious every appointment with my kidney doctor afraid I have crossed over into Stage 4 and dialysis. Wondering if anyone has kidney issues from HIV or medications. Just want you to know you have support if you do.
I have been going to the Veterans Administration Hospital here in St Louis since 1999. I didn't find out I had a stage 3 kidney disease until about I guess 3 years ago. During an emergency room… read more

I was diagnosed in 1987 living half my life with HIV. I am interested in connecting with people who are also Long Term Survivors. I have searched the site and have found quite a few. We are so few and far between it has been hard to find others who have been through the journey we have experienced. Having lost so many friends in the 80 's and 90's plus being diagnosed myself has made me feel survivors guilt and PTSD. Looking for others who have experienced some of the same and like to set… read more
