I’ve probably had this for close to 4 years, diagnosed my donating plasma almost 2 years ago. I’m so scared and still haven’t nutted up and gone to a doctor yet. I know it’s getting worse, I feel it, but I continue to ignore and compartmentalize it all. (I am celibate since before the diagnosis, so I’m not out here harming or spreading anything)

First — just showing up here and saying this out loud? That takes real courage. Seriously. The fact that you're here, trying to accept this, is already a huge step forward and something to be proud of.

Many myHIVteam members have shared that connecting with others who truly *get it* has been life-changing. One myHIVteam member said that after their diagnosis, getting to know others living with HIV became "a springboard for realizing there is a great life ahead." Now, the most important thing to address — please see a doctor as soon as you possibly can. This is urgent. HIV is very manageable with treatment, but without it, the virus can cause serious harm over time. The sooner treatment starts, the better the outcomes.

Here's what seeing a doctor can do for you:

- Stop the progression of the virus with antiretroviral therapy (ART)
- Restore and protect your immune system
- Help you feel better physically and mentally
- Give you a clear picture of where your health stands right now Fear is completely normal and so many people have felt exactly what you're feeling. One myHIVteam member described feeling "fear, the kind of fear felt at diagnosis" — and they got through it.

You don't have to have everything figured out. You just have to make one appointment. That one step can genuinely change everything.
