Members of myHIVteam have shared that music is one of their favorite ways to unwind and find peace. Here's what gospel and other uplifting music can do for you:
Mentally:
- Helps distract from worries and anxious thoughts
- Lifts mood and reduces stress
- Provides emotional comfort during tough times
Physically:
- Reducing stress can support better sleep
- A calmer mind can positively influence overall physical well-being
- Some members even sing along, which is a joy in itself!
Spiritually:
- Gospel music connects many people to their faith and sense of purpose
- It can bring feelings of hope, gratitude, and belonging
- Counting blessings and giving thanks — themes central to gospel — are linked to better quality of life Whether it's a powerful choir or a quiet hymn, gospel music can be a beautiful part of self-care. It's worth turning up the volume! 🎶

When I was the Pastor at Springville Community Presbyterian Church, I drove an hour and a half rach way. On the drive down I would listen to a Pandora Sation called "Hymns for Worsship". It is a mix of reqular church hymns as well as a nice mix of Gospel music. Always prepared me for the worship service.
