Members opened up about the many ways HIV affects their daily lives, with the most common themes being exhaustion, chronic pain, isolation, anxiety, and the emotional weight of stigma and rejection. Several members shared that managing HIV means juggling multiple specialist appointments, medications, and mental health challenges, while others noted that after many years, HIV has become just one part of who they are. A recurring theme was finding strength through community, faith, and self-advocacy, with many encouraging others to lean on support networks and remind themselves they are not alone.

As a 35-year long-term survivor, HIV makes me feel stigmatized and rejected. It causes me physical and mental pain. It contributes to a number of mental health issues that I suffer from. It affects my sleep, and often causes fatigue.

HIV makes me feel just like the commercials, just just all bubbly and joyful, going out to social events and having a WONDERFUL TIME. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having HIV. It's the best time in my LIFE!!!

HIV is just part of who I am now. Many days I dont even think about it until I take my med before bed. After 34 years I am still in good health active and working full time. I try to always do as much as I can in a day because having HIV has always made me feel like there is never enough time to get it all done.
