Great question! It's natural to want to explore every option to support your immune health. While no specific vitamin has been proven to directly increase CD4 counts, some nutrients are known to support immune cell function.

Key nutrients that may help support immune cells include:

- Vitamin C
- Vitamin D
- Iron
- Zinc

Great question! It's natural to want to explore every option to support your immune health. While no specific vitamin has been proven to directly increase CD4 counts, some nutrients are known to support immune cell function.

Key nutrients that may help support immune cells include:

- Vitamin C
- Vitamin D
- Iron
- Zinc
- Protein

It's always better to get these nutrients through food rather than supplements when possible. Vitamin D in particular has been studied in relation to CD4 counts. Some research suggests an association between higher vitamin D levels and higher CD4 counts, but this connection isn't fully understood yet.

A few important cautions around Vitamin D supplementation:

- There is currently no established safe dose of vitamin D supplements for people with HIV
- Taking too much can potentially cause harm
- Some HIV medications, like efavirenz, have been linked to lower vitamin D levels

The most effective way to maintain and improve CD4 counts remains staying consistent with antiretroviral therapy (ART). Always talk to your doctor before starting any new supplements — they can test your levels and guide you safely.

There are many that you can take, but be careful. Some HIV medications react very badly with certain vitamin supplements, so if you're going to go that route, make sure you're not taking anything that could cause an interaction. In my case, I have to avoid B12, as this can cause a serious interaction.
