"Why is it that a month before I was diagnosed, my test result was negative, but a month later it turned positive? And now, after 2 months and 14 days, I'm getting thinner and thinner, plus I've had diarrhea ever since I started taking this medication. I'm really scared because my body has become so skinny."

It sounds like you're experiencing weight loss and diarrhea, possibly from your HIV medication, and you're concerned about getting skinnier. Let me address what might be happening.

Weight Loss and Diarrhea from HIV Medications

Digestive problems like chronic diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting can be caused by HIV medications or the virus itself. These ongoing gut issues can definitely lead to weight loss and make you feel like your body is getting skinnier.

Some people experience unintended weight loss before or after diagnosis due to:
- Lost appetite
- Nausea from medications
- Chronic diarrhea
- Fat and muscle loss

What You Can Do

Don't ignore these symptoms. Your doctor can help by:
- Ruling out infections that might be causing digestive issues
- Adjusting your medications if they're causing these side effects
- Referring you to a nutritionist who can help you maintain a healthy weight

It's important to talk to your healthcare provider about these symptoms, especially if the diarrhea is happening almost daily or if you're losing significant weight. They may be able to switch you to a different medication that's easier on your digestive system.
