Members opened up honestly about how an HIV diagnosis changed their love lives, with many sharing that they pulled back from dating to focus on healing and self-worth first. A recurring theme was the fear of rejection and stigma, with some preferring to date others who are also positive, while others found that disclosure became a powerful filter for finding truly supportive partners. Several members shared hopeful perspectives, including the confidence that comes with being undetectable, and one member shared a heartwarming story of returning to a lifelong love and eventually marrying them.

Well, I would rather be single than date someone who is negative. Stigma is real and i hate rejection. I am sticking with my poz guys but not settling. 馃榾馃槝

I don鈥檛 date I rather be alone than talk about it. If I met someone and she was the same as me then it would be easier but not really on any sites for that.

A diagnosis definitely adds a new 'layer' to the dating world, but it also acts as a very effective filter for finding people who are truly worth your time.

For many of us, here is what changes:

The 'Trust' Filter: It changes how quickly we open up. You become much more intentional about who you let into your inner circle. In a way, it forces you to look for emotional maturity and empathy in a partner much sooner than you might have before.

The Disclosure Conversation: This is often the biggest hurdle. The fear of rejection is real, but many have found that sharing their status actually builds a foundation of radical honesty. If someone can鈥檛 handle the conversation, they likely weren't the right partner for a long-term, supportive relationship anyway.

The Power of U=U: One of the biggest shifts in dating recently is the confidence that comes with being Undetectable. Knowing that Undetectable = Untransmittable takes the fear of transmission off the table, which allows intimacy to be about connection again, rather than worry.

Self-Love First: Often, the diagnosis changes how we feel about ourselves before it changes how we feel about others. Once you realize that you are still the same person鈥攚orthy of love, respect, and a great relationship鈥攖he dating world feels a lot less intimidating.

It鈥檚 a journey of finding your 'new normal,' but many in this community have found deeper, more authentic relationships after their diagnosis than they ever had before.
