Members opened up about the very real emotional and social challenges of dating while living with HIV, especially in their 50s, with many pointing to outdated stigma from the 1980s as a major barrier that still shapes how people react today. Several members shared painful personal experiences, including being mistreated at hospitals by medical staff who lacked basic knowledge about HIV, and facing rejection or humiliation in relationships. A recurring theme was the importance of community support, with many finding comfort in connecting online rather than in person while navigating the mental and emotional weight of living with HIV.

@A myHIVteam Member Ameen on that because a few people I did meet will throw it up in my face or embarrassed me around others and bring it up so I had to stay away from it because my anger got the best of me and I caught a few charges so I had do a reality check ✔️ on myself

Because they are afraid to be infected. I was in a relationship when I was informed that I was HIV+. The relationship was not the same till it was over. But what I find confusing is why those who are HIV+ do not date a person that is HIV+. I tried HIV+ dating sites with very limited replies.
