Today I proceeded with my Biktarvy re challenge. I wasnt sure what time to take it, but decided on 1230 lunchtime. Had a bit of sleepiness, gone back to Bed for a lie down. Im trying to avoid the tiredness issue, so any feedback about how to avoid the sleepiness would be helpful ?

Members shared a wide range of timing strategies for taking Biktarvy, with most taking it in the morning (often with coffee or breakfast to avoid forgetting) and others taking it at bedtime to sleep through potential side effects like tiredness or vivid dreams. Several members discussed switching their dosing time to manage fatigue, with one member experimenting with a midday dose to time the tiredness for overnight hours, though they ultimately returned to a previous regimen due to concerns about cognitive effects and a unique history of HIV-related brain complications. A recurring theme was that individual responses to Biktarvy vary significantly, with some experiencing no side effects at all while others needed to adjust timing or switch medications entirely, and the importance of working closely with healthcare providers to find what works best for each person's body and circumstances.

I decided to change the time of my dosing today from 1230 lunchtime to 10 or 11pm. Im hoping this will get rid of unwanted side effects

With regards to HIV in the Brain and Cerebal Spinal Fluid, I got a second opinion Tuesday from the leading HIV Physician here in Brighton. Now because I had previous HIV Dementia, its not guarenteed that Biktarvy would keep my viral load in these compartments undetectable, yet it could keep the blood undetectable. For those of you who have not had previous Brain problems Biktarvy is safe, as it will stop HIV from getting into the Brain in the first place. However in my unique case theres no guarentee. I was 4 days into taking Biktarvy, by day three I was dramatically losing assertiveness and confidence. In addition to this, I started to get forgetfull amongst other things. Therefore on day five I re instated my previous anti retrovirals, because of the dramatic decline of my Brain and thought functions. My previous regime is known to keep the virus undetectable in the blood and all other body compartments, however it comes with a risk. Darunivir /Ritonivir is known to increase risk of stroke and heart disease by 30%.. So it was a difficult decision. But the fact is the Brain is more important since you cant manage without proper Brain function. I have now become very aware of my limited time on Earth, and I must now make the most of every extra day on Earth, that the Lord has given me.

@A myHIVteam Member It's never kept me from sleeping, it used to put my to sleep lol when I first started but that didn't last long. And that's when I was taking it at bedtime but now I take it at 7am and go about my day.
