My HIV strain is extremely complex.. I acquired wild type HIV 1 back in the early 1990s. Having refused AZT monotherapy in 1995, I was forced to take the first ever invented AZT/DDI combination therapy in March 1996..Now these two drugs were not potent enough to stop the virus, and I suffered a total treatment failure by October 1996. The medics in November 1996,then put me on Indinivir AZT and 3TC, again not strong enough to control this virus. All the while unknown to me, these sub optimal… read more

Members with complex HIV histories shared personal experiences with Biktarvy fatigue, directly responding to a question about whether tiredness resolves over time. Several members noted that early side effects like exhaustion and body aches improved after a few weeks, with some finding that taking Biktarvy at bedtime or incorporating afternoon naps helped manage daytime fatigue. A recurring theme was the importance of finding the right timing for the dose and leaning on community support when navigating difficult treatment decisions.

@A myHIVteam Member Been on Biktarvy for almost 2yrs when I first started it, it used too knock me out like I had took some Ambien! 🤣 But that past after couple months. But now I take it at 7am I found that works better to get through my entire day sometime it makes me a lil tired around 7pm but its not bothersome because I'm usually at home on the couch anyway and then in bed by 9pm. I hope it truly works out better for you this time. ❤️❤️❤️

I saw my HIV Professor Friday in London..I did a deal with him..Deal is, he gives me 3 months of my current 4 times daily medication, plus a 30 day bottle of Biktarvy to start the re challenge at a time of my choosing. That time is today, Saturday and I took the first dose 1230 lunchtime UK time..Felt a bit sleepy so went to bed for 30 minutes...Will see how this pans out over the Weekend.

@A myHIVteam Member please stay around here. Our shared goal is that us STS become LTS. And we do that by sharing our experience with each other.

I've had occasion to feel like this forum isn't the place for me a few times, and I wonder if that isn't more common than any of us realize. I correspond still with some who might technically be members here, but have stopped interacting because they don't feel they fit in here anymore.

The virus we share though is not a simple virus. As a result it manifests in us in a variety of ways; and for LTS; medicines' attempts to stop us from dying started out as experiments with early HIV patients being the Guinea pigs. Each of you have my gratitude for doing what you could to still be here now decades later. If you hadn't, not only would you not be here, many others would not either.

I fear we're entering a new period of hard times. Thankfully other developed nations will pick up where the US is leaving off in pursuing medical interventions in HIV.

One other observation humanity might do well to note. HIV research is the core research into how the human immune system functions. Humanity has benefitted massively here 40 some years after the start of AIDS epidemic. Cure for HEP C is just one of them. There are a host of treatments for conditions which were largely untreatable. Honestly, I think this is how America used to be great.
