I knew one person. Back in the day when people went to the hospital and didn't come out. Back then he was in his early thirties. He was my close friends lover at the time. On day my friend got a call that his lover was in the hospital with pneumonia. The next thing we heard was that he passed away and my best friend at the time was HIV positive.
Danny, I miss you.
My best friend Danny,. He died in 1987. Great loyal friend. I still shed tears for him. He was closer to me then a brother.
He was the one who taught me the Truth.
My best freind he died in 1996 he just missed the new meds that were coming out. If he could have held on just a little bit longer he might still be here. I miss him every day. He was kind never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Let’s just say the opposite of me lol. I’m thankful that he did not suffer even when he had 4 cd4 cells left.his name was Mike and I was there with his father on Xmas day when he coded out in the hospital. I will never forget him. I know he would be mad as hell at me for getting this disease when I saw what he went through. I was stupid and thought I was acting like a 21 year old who thinks nothing is gonna happen to me. However I was in my upper thirties then . It took me 24 years of unprotected sex to get infected in 2023 and I have no excuse to play un safe after he died.i hate myself every day for my new life . I’m bitter and I know many will say you will accept your new life. But I know me I will never except my new life I will just deal with it. 😢
My coworker Norm; a Canadian import at the company I worked for then passed from AIDS in 97. At end, as toxoplasmosis had shown itself lead him to decide to cease food and liquids. He passed about two weeks later. He was the stereotypical Canadian.
I lost track of Dan, another coworker at the same company.
During the 80's I was a crisis line volunteer for Howard Brown clinic in Chicago. Too many names to recall specific people. It was a challenging time.

At first I thought this is a stupid question. Duh, we all lost people to HIV AIDS. Then my brain processed the question in a different light. I processed it. in memories of the people I had known. Remembering them now gives meaning to their shorten lives and they are not just a statistic in the numbers. That 30 to 40 years later someone remembers them by name.
