Yes, there is a "latent" or chronic phase of HIV infection, but this doesn't mean the virus is undetectable by tests. The latent phase typically lasts 10-15 years without treatment and during this time, HIV tests will still detect the infection. Some people may experience swollen lymph nodes during this phase, while others have no symptoms at all. There is a brief "window period" right after infection when HIV tests may not detect the virus. This period varies by test type - ranging from 10-33 days for nucleic acid tests to 23-90 days for antibody tests. However, this window period does not last for years. If you're experiencing symptoms and concerned about HIV, it's important to get tested with the most sensitive diagnostic tests available through a healthcare provider.

If you have symptoms, then you should be detectable. Since it takes a while to seroconvert. Have you had a mono test? It's HIV like.
