So I joined a dating app for exclusively HIV Positive people. There have been warnings that many of the people on there are scammers. Ive received a number of requests from guys who insist on communicating through either the Zingy App or the Signal App. Here in UK
Whattsapp or Skype are the normal means of communication Would you assume these requests to speak on the Zingy or Signal Apps are from scammers?

Members strongly advised caution when navigating HIV-positive dating apps, with the overwhelming consensus being that requests to switch platforms early in a conversation, especially to unfamiliar apps like Zingy or Signal, are major red flags for scammers. Several members shared practical strategies for staying safe, including trusting your instincts, limiting exposure of private information, watching for signs like model-quality photos or poor grammar, and refusing to move off the original platform until a genuine rapport has been established. A recurring theme was the challenge of making authentic connections in online spaces, with many members expressing nostalgia for in-person venues and emphasizing the importance of self-protection while still remaining open to the possibility of real relationships.

If its too good to be true, if the picture looks like a model, mis-spells and grammar not matching the way of the local culture, swipe on and report....

Mark. Follow your instincts. If it doesn’t feel right then it is not right. So many times after a fall I think back to say I knew that was going to happen, why did I not listen to my inner voice?

For whatever reason. There are cruel people in the world that want to take whatever they can and they look for vulnerabilities to do so.

Making real world connections is so hard. I know it has been for me anyway. I think that search for some connection to others it is why we all found our way here.

everyone I have engaged with here has felt genuine. It’s a really nice alternative to the usual deluge that I find online. I know this is not a dating app; I don’t treat it like it is. It’s more like a coffee house. I sit and read posts in the morning with coffee and enjoy the songs others post. Or your stories of the day.

Not sure if that helps but I hope you find your way safely as you navigate the dating apps.

Most definitely don’t switch into other platforms. I recently got onto online dating and I automatically say no when they ask to move out of the platform before we even begin chatting. 100% of the time they stop communicating which only tells me that I was correct in saying no to begin with.
