While zinc is one of several nutrients that may support immune cell function, it's not a magic solution for increasing CD4 counts. The most effective way to improve and maintain CD4 T-cell counts is through consistent adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) as prescribed by your healthcare provider. A healthy diet that includes proper nutrition from whole foods is important for supporting your immune system. This means eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. While nutrients like zinc can play a supporting role, it's best to get these through food rather than supplements. Always consult with your healthcare provider before starting any supplements, as they can interact with HIV medications. Remember that ART medications work by preventing the virus from replicating in your CD4-positive T cells and help maintain or increase your T-cell count over time. Staying consistent with your prescribed medication routine is the key to maintaining healthy CD4 levels.

Personally, I've found a Zinc supplement daily helps me to remain healthy by warding off unnecessary germs and keeping my immune system active. I think of it as a boost. HIV is constantly activating my immune response so I can use all the help I can get to staying healthy.
