Members rallied around someone feeling isolated and seeking support, with many sharing that in-person HIV support groups have become harder to find due to reduced funding, changing treatment needs, and geographic barriers, though some cities still offer regular meetups with meals, guest speakers, and case management. Several members recommended connecting through Ryan White programs at local health departments, exploring HIV-focused counseling services, checking out social events and networks like the Women's Support Network, and asking about virtual or hybrid options when distance is a challenge. A recurring theme was the deep need for connection and the reminder that reaching out is an act of courage, with members emphasizing that no one has to face HIV alone and that community, whether online or in person, remains a lifeline.

Yes we attend two support groups here in Houston.
One group is open to everyone but created mostly for Gay men . All topics are related to gay men's issues dealing with HIV
The other is a Heterosexual Straight group mostly for women but a few Straight men attend.
In the last few months we have gotten a lot of women and men join the group. We are up to 25 people now

I have found that support groups are becoming a rarity these days. Even in large cities where I have lived like Orlando and St. Petersburg. There are, to be fair, HIV social events, but I couldn't believe I was unable to find a support group here in St. Pete. If so, I would go despite being poz 33 years.

There is a Lunch for positive people held here every Tuesday and Friday between 12noon and 3pm. There are numerous Tables to chat and eat and there is a vegatarian food option. I go to the Friday event, and there is an opportunity to chat with other positive people. There is no admission fee, as its a Charity based organisation run by volunteers.

First and foremost know that you will make it on your own and you are not alone. There are millions of people around the world with HIV. Unfortunately support groups are usually funded through Grant programs in HIV and LGBT friendly organizations in the United States we are going through a crisis regarding funding with our current administration. Having said that the greatest support you can find is that in your faith in your neighbors in your friends in your family here amongst us and in your own neighborhood. Do not isolate yourself because of HIV. Once you feel strong enough venture outside and get some fresh air.
