In the recent months, a lot of migrants have joined our team. We welcome them wholeheartedly. Unfortunately a lot of them are looking for medication and medical support. Also for those of us who rely on HIV programs such as Ryan White SNAP and so forth ..we are concerned about the slashing cuts that have been promised. Are you concerned?

Members expressed deep concern about potential cuts to Ryan White, ADAP, and other HIV care programs under the current administration, with many sharing fears about losing access to life-saving medications they cannot afford without assistance and drawing parallels to the Reagan era's deadly silence on AIDS. Several members shared practical responses including contacting senators and representatives, organizing through revived advocacy efforts like ACT-UP, staying informed through state-level health departments when federal communications are halted, and supporting each other through what many described as a frightening and uncertain time. A recurring theme was the call to unite across political differences, remain vigilant and angry rather than afraid, and fight to protect healthcare access for all people living with HIV regardless of citizenship status or background.

This is not about who should get what where and when ....This is about being compassionate and empathetic toward our HIV community. And humans in general.

I worry about healthcare. Not so much HIV care. I don't see a reduction in HIV funds. That would be a hard sell since it's a known fact that treatment helps prevent the spread of HIV. Not to mention HIV isn't an LGBT issue anymore it's a world health issue. I've had Ryan White and no medical insurance. That's what I predict the worst-case scenario would be. Hopefully, the Ryan White subsidies hold up and you can go to the marketplace and get assistance with the premiums.

I am very concerned about cuts to The Ryan White program. I have insurance, but I cannot afford the monthly copayments.

I think all of us should be concerned. It does not matter your political beliefs. This is about our god-given right to health care and medications. Just today all communications from the CDC and any health federal offices were shut down. This is the beginning to a very scary time. It reminds me of the Reagan years when President Reagan refused to acknowledge the word AIDS. Over a million people died from that ignorance. This is a support group and we are here to support each other and we must stand firm. Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

I'm in contact with senator Durbin ... Chicago is a great state for the Democratic process. Ice try to invade one of our Chicago public schools on the south side but Governor pritzker had laid out all the formal and legal paperwork that ice must bring with them if they intend to do this. They did this in New Jersey yesterday and took out immigrants without the proper paperwork and without showing the warrants by the federal judge that are necessary to do this kind of invasion. Here in Chicago we don't tolerate that. We closed the doors and did not let them in because they had no paperwork.
