Treatment Options

I had heard of a treatment that involved getting a shot every month and half, as opposed to the pill regimen. Is it hiv treatment ,prep or just a rumor with no basis in fact?

I am taking the shots. You need to be undetectable for a certain period of time. You also have to be sure your HIV is not resistant to the meds that are in the shots. There are 2 different kinds of shots, monthly and bimonthly. most people who get the shots do bimonthly, a few do monthly. Discuss this with your doctor to see if you can receive the shots. The shots are uncomfortable for about 2 days, not necessarily hurt, but there is some discomfort for about 2 days. For some people, it's only discomfort for only a day.

Just ask your doctor about it. I'm still on the pill. I know a couple of people on it.

There is a shot available but you need to discuss with your doctor if you can make that switch

What are the requirements for it? How asking if it would be a viable option for me?
