I am inquiring about going back to pills but my specialist told me that I can’t because the pill form won’t work as cabenuva is a liquid form and the other is pill. He also said that the pill form will not be effective enough to prevent it progressing to AIDS. The question I am asking is he telling the truth or not?

When I first started on Cabenuva I had to take 2 pills daily for the first 30 days the I did the injections. But after almost a year my viral load went back up again. So my doctor took me off Cabenva and put me on Symtuza which a daily pill. She told me that my strain of HIV was resistant to Cabenuva. With the pill it brought down my viral load again to being undetectable. Hope this helps!
Yes, you should consult with your Provider(s) about being able to switch back, but it is correct once you go on the Cabenuva Injection the pills will not work alone so you will have to get on some other medication as well.
Again, talk to YOUR Provider(s) and/or get a second opinion from another provider.
@A myHIVteam Member I’m in the UK and on lead-in to get my first injections next week. I have already been advised that if there is an issue, or simply don’t like them, then I can switch back to tablets.
I know everybody is a unique case but if I - and others also here - can do it then I would certainly seek clarification or a second opinion.
