Why Do I See Many Women From Africa Here, But Very Few Men?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve not found a way to search members and confirm this with data, but there appears to be a much higher percentage of women than men here from the continent of Africa. Of the few men I see, several appear to have been infected at birth. Is this because a low percentage of men have the virus, or are there other reasons?

@A myHIVteam Member. I think it's for the same reason that we don't see many straight American men on this website. Shame, denial, Top vs bottom infection rates, stigma, association with gay men. Lots of little reasons that combined have a greater effect. Support groups for straight men don't draw people in the same way that support groups for marginalized people do. Many straight men in a dominant group have no experience with seeking the support of their peers... Unless, it's a round of golf.❤️🤠👍

It may be that those men know they are positive, and don't want to expose themselves.
It might be the, "I got AIDS from someone, so I'm paying everyone back" mentality. So by not exposing themselves they can keep the "gift" giving.
Also, you have to remember, cultures are different in African continent. Men are seen as more superior and women submissive. So I'm sure a lot of rape happens that don't get reported.
I *THINK* that poz women have it more harder in Africa, because they are "dirty" product now for negative men, while poz men keep whoring around sharing their toxic seed.
I think African women are more open and acceptable about their status than the men are. If the men were more open, less women would want to play. So it's a never ending cycle.
Again, this is all suspect, and my opinion, people from the area would have to either confirm or deny this better.

Females to have stigma. I'm from Africa but all we do to hide our status is to appear disinterested in a relationship 😁. I think dating sites have not helped much. But they would have been the right place to meet fellow POS.
Most men are not serious when it comes to dating. They forget you can never get all you want in one person.

I don't know.

I think it's due to stigma. Most African men fear to come out boldly to reveal their status. Do you know most positives are single? They don't know where to find fellow positives and fear to disclose their status to the negatives. What if they become the story headline,
