My ID doctor prescribed me this med on the rare occasion when I have sex lol. He said take 2 pills right after sex to prevent other sexually transmitted diseases. He also said it’s good for Lyme disease. However I have no intention of having sex with a tick 🥹. Has anyone used this before? My doctor says it’s good for syphilis which he says is out of control in the United States

Members discussed doxy-PEP, a medication taken after sex to help prevent certain sexually transmitted infections like syphilis and chlamydia, with several sharing that their doctors had prescribed it as a precautionary measure for occasional unprotected sex. A recurring theme was cautious optimism, with some members feeling reassured by their doctor's recommendation, while others raised concerns about antibiotic resistance and the risk of bacteria becoming harder to treat over time. Many members agreed that while condoms remain the best protection, doxy-PEP offers a helpful backup option, and trusting an experienced doctor's guidance was seen as key.

Great answers on here but I’m gonna listen to my ID doctor who’s been dealing with HIV for 30 years I’m taking doxy pep if I have unprotected sex. Not that I’m gonna have unprotected sex but in the heat of the moment not taking any chances

Yes! My doctor has prescribed it for me and I have a bottle in my cupboard right now. Since I don't hook up, I have only used it once so far. I think it's a wonderful idea, especially in today's world and if you are having casual sex. But even if you're dating, like me. You just never know. Better to be safe than sorry until you develop a confident level of trust with your sexual partner.
Doxycycline is powerful and has been around a very long time. It is a wonderful antibiotic for STIs and other bacterial infections.
I have had zero side effects from it, despite taking so many other medications. It didn't give me a headache or anything like that. I just popped the two pills, and drank a lot of water and that was it.
I highly recommend it.

Yea I guess condoms can solve all of these problems but we are all human and make bad decisions sometimes

Just take it before you have sex for whatever reason? I think it's good for now. Down the road, I'd wonder about super syphilis since they are still watching resistance.
