Members warmly reassured someone asking whether people living with HIV can work in other countries, confirming that in the United States, people with HIV are legally protected from workplace discrimination and can travel freely since 2010. Several members shared the importance of discretion about one's status in the workplace, with some recounting difficult experiences of being let go after disclosing their HIV status, emphasizing that legal protections do not always prevent stigma. A recurring theme was encouragement to ask questions without shame, maintain personal boundaries about disclosure, and trust that the right opportunities will come to those who advocate for themselves with strength and pride.

Effective January 4, 2010, a diagnosis of HIV infection will not render a person traveling into the United States as inadmissible under Section 212(a)(1)(A)(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA)

I remember in around 1991 or 2 I went to Toronto with me then be to see phantom and was advised NOT to say a word about my hiv at the boarder or I would not have been allowed to enter Canada. I was shocked but followed advise. Had wonderful time there. Canada was so wonderful and clean and the people I met. Let's just say Americans stuck out like a sore thumb and by time I left I was very ashamed at the way my fellow countrymen were acting while being hosted in another country.

Sorry about that, i wish people would look at our strengths and not our weaknesses, but its there loss, especially if you are a talented and hard worker, so don't give up, no matter how people react or behave towards you, be proud of who you are and how far you have come through life, don't be afraid to speak out for yourself, pray about everything , everyday , God will position you for greatness and all those that cannot see how valuable you are will be ashamed. You are here for a reason.
