I’m going to a wedding on Sunday and probably will have 5 or 6 alcoholic drinks at the event. 2 days later on Tuesday I’m getting my blood drawn to check my blood results it’s been 4 months since my last test. Will the alcohol from Sunday affect my viral load or cd 4 counts results? I know biktarvy does not have any negative interactions with alcohol but just pondering whether alcohol will skew my viral load cd4 count levels on top of my liver enzymes etc. any thoughts?
As far as I’ve always been told, it’s regular drinking that will have an affect on any results - I tend not to have any alcohol the day before any bloods (I’m not a regular drinker) but that’s just my own personal choice.
To be honest, I’ve had this for so long (26 years) that I just do it it of habit; thinking about all the things we do that could affect the body and any test results is endless and could drive you crazy - I try not to let the virus rule me.
As a general rule most doctors will tell you to be moderate in your drinking.
example, one or two glasses a day but any severe alcohol will kill your cells and therefore weaken your immune system. so again everything in moderation.
Brad just have fun and dont think about anything. Drink away and have fun because that is good for the soul. If you're worried about it either way 24 hours should have you back in tip top shape. Point party away amigo
@A myHIVteam Member I’m in recovery and my drug use did directly affect my labs. Attempting to stay sober and eating healthy has helped in so many ways.
Thanks for sharing!
I take biktarvy I had my last blood test last month and had some alcohol a few days before and my viral was still undetectable and my liver enzymes were fine
