Very good question! False positives can occur with any lab test performed. When hiv test is performed if positive a reflux is performed to confirm negative or positive.Use cdc and hiv.org for accurate information and talk to your doctor. I can’t say this enough develop a rapport with your provider, go to your appointments and ask questions. Review your labs , compare lab values.
