Relief?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Did anyone ever experience relief when they found out they were positive? Some folks have share in support groups that they were relieved to find out they were positive because they were always worried about it. Is this a unique feeling, or are they wrong for feeling the way they do?

Asking for some friends....

Relief was certainly NOT my immediate feeling when I was diagnosed. Not even a close 2nd!

@A myHIVteam Member. I read about a study that showed No News is harder on people than Bad News. Uncertainty is unbearable. People would rather get bad news because they can act on the bad news. Uncertainty leaves people hanging. If your life is so out of control that you could be positive every time you test... A positive result might be construed as a "relief." It's finally over, I no longer have to wonder.

I am glad to finally know why I am so fatigued and so lethargic.

I was definitely not relieved. I immediately went into shock, confusion and denial in the beginning before I came to terms with it.
