Members openly discussed whether to share their HIV status with others, with many noting that their comfort level has grown over time even though it wasn't always easy. Several members shared that they disclose selectively, telling close friends, partners, family, and doctors, while others choose to be fully public on social media or dating profiles to avoid later rejection. A recurring theme was that disclosure is deeply personal, should be shared with trusted people on a case-by-case basis, and that opening up can lead to unexpected support and community.

Its a personal matter. No one elses business. Unless of course its a serious Date, you might want to tell them at the start. Thats what I did with my last partner. He was taking Prep already, but I still told him, as soon as he asked me to Date.

The reason to disclose to potential Dates, is some may be put off by HIV. So its better to get those people out of your life early.

Isn’t that what we’re doing on this site showing it as possible with HIV. There is hope.

It’s a personal matter, and should only be shared with people that are trusted as it can be used to hurt

@A myHIVteam Member I updated my Grindr and scruff the day I got my results. Cost me a lot of "friends" but I would rather be despised for my candor than my secrets.
