What Is Life Like After Diagnosis?
A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

I have a client newly diagnosed and has a lot of questions about what life is like after diagnosis. What would be your top 3 things you would share with a friend that was newly diagnosed with HIV ?

1. Establish a health care plan with a provider you trust, and stick to it. 2. Pay close attention to your mental health. Don’t isolate or dwell on this diagnosis. Talk to people. Family, friends, support groups, or mental health professionals. 3. Live! Plan the future you desire and go for it. You can live a long healthy life with HIV.

It has gotten better. Following the regimen for treatment it helps greatly to stay healthy. Being honest to oneself and the doctor helps to find the right treatment and to stay positive. I have been fortunate to have a very kind doctor. Sometimes I feel alone, like I don't belong anywhere. I fear telling friends and relatives because of my cultural background and experiences I witness. Just keep the chin up because things get better.

Just so, you know, Paula. As a case manager, you will come across various people in the spectrum from people who are very sick to those who are fortunate to have a very good life. The question you ask is a loaded question.. as it depends on each and every person. Having a great doctor , medicine that fits your lifestyle and keep you undetectable And staying busy is important. I just posed a question in the question and answer section about what people dislike about having h. I. V.
You may want to go through it..🤎💜🩵🩵💙💚💛💛🧡🩷
