@A myHIVteam Member my doctor actually recommended it for me although I don't always go to the dispensary to get it 😆lol but it helps a lot with my appetite, mood😊, and nausea.... But you can always Ask your doctor about it if it makes you feel more comfortable hearing it from a professional 😉

MEGACE is the answer for those looking to eat more with zero appetite. Google it. I can testify it works! I have not had an appetite in so long I cannot remember when I did. My sense of smell is diminished, I believe due to taking hiv meds since available (nasty first ones). Also wearing a top denture. So having no sense of smell in addition to no palate (denture covers it) I have zero appetite. The only time I eat is when my body physically tells me I am starving. My ID doctor prescribed MEGACE and let me tell you all, this stuff works! It comes in a white liquid. When I do take it I pour x amount of liquid into an open syringe to measure, then drink. Doesn't taste bad. The reason I do not take more often is I don't seem to lose weight by not eating. If I gain too much all goes in stomach then I'd have to buy all new pants, shorts, plus feel uncomfortable. Been thin all my life, 5 ' 5" tall, usually 118 but lately 110.
Funny thing, been compliant since the start. Started with lesss than 14 tcells. When I found out during a clinical trial for Serostim in 1999 that I was co infected with hepatitis C (fibrosis one on liver biopsy)I tried the PegInterferon + Ribavarin. About one month later I quit due to horrendous side effects. Fast forward to 2014. I moved 3,000 miles to take the last slot in a clinical trial at UC Davis with Merck for their one pill a day cure for hepatitis C. Dr. David Asmuth was Head of Clinical Trials at UC Davis and my new ID doc. ( lucky me! Best ID doc) I was cured at week 2 of 12. No side effects. When I eliminated hep C from my body, my tcells rose 300 points from 350 to 650. As time went on my tcells kept creeping up. I've been undetectable always since started meds and my tcells are now over 1000 and seem to be staying there last four draws, every 6 months.
Stay compliant everyone. I have lost many loved ones because they were not compliant. If you have hepatitis C, there is a cure now with no side effects. Hiv and hepatitis C exasperate each other like wildfire. No reason to not take the one pill a day cure. Once hepatitis C destroys your liver and gets to cirrhosis there is no healing even after taking the cure. So many people I know had bad timing and lost their lives to hepatitis C because liver already progressed to cirrhosis. Your liver is the only organ in your body that regenerates itself. However, once hepatitis C passes all fibrosis stages and ends up cirrhosis, a fatty yellow liver, there is no turning back.
