I just turned 65 & now on Medicare (never thought I’d say those words!). I’ve now learned that my regimen will cost me over $1000/mo because they are tier 3 & 5. Pisses me off because I’m undetectable & have a high T-Cell count. I’ve survived & thrived all these years only to be undone by Medicare !! 😡
Have you applied for ADAP?
Also, this includes you @A myHIVteam Member, have you tried going to the manufacturer of your meds and signing up for prescription assistance?
So consider yourself lucky enough to have the income to be charged. A lot of us long term survivors infected in the mid 80s when hiv was called G.R.I.D. and told 6 months to live did not prepare for old age + retirement. Most cashed in whole life insurance policies and partied like crazy! Threw away our careers only to learn that protease inhibitors became FDA approved in 1997. Those that did not submit to AZT megatherapy are doing exceptionally well.
I'm having the same problem. One med the copay is over $500 and the other is $130. Are there any prescription programs that pay for prep meds?
I had changed my Medicare over to United Healthcare Medicare and I don't have a copay.
