Members shared their frustrations about the team feature and communication dynamics on the site, with many expressing disappointment over one-sided connections, lack of responses from teammates, and the sense of cliques forming that exclude certain members. Several members offered practical tips for navigating the platform, including how to turn off overwhelming email notifications, send private messages by commenting on individual profile pages rather than public threads, and manage team lists by removing inactive connections. A recurring theme was the desire for more genuine communication and support within the community, especially for those newly diagnosed with HIV who need connection and knowledge sharing rather than just hearts and hugs.

I don’t talk to everybody everyday I don’t have that much time. I don’t think that makes a person in a click, I think most just have a connection with some more than others

@milli2, yes in the comment box on THEIR PAGE. NOT in a comment box that several people have commented on. If you click on THEIR picture and comment on THEIR page, it will be blocked from others.

@A myHIVteam Member. I remember back around 1999, when I first came into the internet, there was gay.com. It was a chat site like you described. Multiple layers of chat rooms based on location, orientation, interests, etc. And, from any of those rooms you could move to a private chat room with any member.

I learned a lot about online dating in those years. You can learn more from 30min face to face, than from a month of chatting online. We often don't realize how much of ourselves we project at others, especially when little is known. We unconsciously fill in the blanks with our own desires, interests, biases, expectations, ignorance, etc.

Welcome to the human race. 🤠

I never figured out the Team thing. I use the email notifications to check postings. I also look at the Story people have posted about themselves. The myHIVteam app doesn't work as well for me as the website. But, I am probably missing out on the people who have not posted to the questions. Social media is catch as catch can, I think, with a wide variety of experiences.

@A myHIVteam Member. You're right. Respect comes first, or nothing else you say matters. Thanks for the insight.
